6 things to do on a rainy day off

Here in Melbourne, we’ve just recently endured 7 days with the temperature reaching 28 degrees and above. It’s not overly hot, however, if you’re familiar with Melbourne you’ll know that we DON’T do consistency. It’s almost unheard of to have 7 days of consistent heat. So it’s fair to say I was beginning to struggle a bit.

Today I woke up to a beautiful 22 degrees, cloudy and sure enough it was pouring with rain (woohoo!!!). It’s really sparked my excitement for Autumn and Winter and all the nice things that come with colder weather.

I’ve composed a list of all the things to do on a rainy day at home. Some are productive, others are indulgent. But all are made a little better by the fact that you’re cosy inside while it’s raining out there.

  1. Tidy/Clean/Declutter/Organise your room. If you have the time, this activity doesn’t have to be stressful, I often find that it can be quite therapeutic if you let it. We all know how nice it feels once your life is organised, and once the cold weather sets in, you’ll be spending a lot more time in your room – make it look nice!

2. Set aside some time to read your favourite book. Nothing feels cosier than curling up on your bed with a cup of tea and a good book, and just zoning out. Of course made all the better by the sound of the rain.

3.   Have a bubble bath. Whip out those Lush products, light a candle and treat yo-self girl. Pamper yourself, exfoliate, use a face mask, moisturise yourself half to death. Emerge from the bathroom a gleaming new woman. Put on clean “comfies” (your comfiest clothes – they may be tatty trackies, they may be jeans, I don’t care. Just be comfy) and whatever you do for the rest of the day will feel nice because you are a squeaky clean, moisturised babe.

4. Plan your week. This is a good time to have a proper look at your diary. Sit down and look at it with fresh eyes. What do you need to achieve?

5. Get active. Just because it’s raining outside doesn’t mean you can skip out on your exercise routine (we all know how hard it is to get back to after you’ve broken the habit). If you know your body well, make up an interesting new work out. If not – try this quick youtube workout. You’ll feel better for it!

6. Cook something. How good is a home cooked meal or a freshly baked batch of muffins when it’s raining outside? Mmmmdc4a7209d368024596ee0af3a9d25647
